Island Outpost’s Strawberry Hill was recently featured in the January 2015 edition of Conde Nast Traveler in an article entitled, ‘The Gold List: 100 Hotels That Change The Way We See The World”. The piece explains most people traveling to Jamaica find themselves at the crowded shores of the north coast; the once breathtaking Negril beach that has been infiltrated by all-inclusive resorts. It goes on to compare Montego Bay’s busyness with the hustle and bustle of New York. For travelers looking to experience something different, Conde Nast Travelersuggests flying into Kingston and making the journey up to Jamaica’s celebrated Blue Mountains. Strawberry Hill has taken on a new existence in the majestic highlands since being acquired by Island Outpost owner, Chris Blackwell. The writer of this article boasts Strawberry Hill as one of his favorite places to stay in the world. Strawberry Hill is made up of lovely white cottages accompanied by all-encompassing terraces. Each cottage has shutters standing on columns amongst the tropical vegetation representing every color green. The piece tells of the experience of fruit lovers reaching out and picking a mango or papaya to enjoy with rum punch in a planters chair while listening to Jimmy Cliff. The author describes the weather of his most recent experience as a cool spell, which did not bother him a bit. The author speaks of escaping at the bar near the incredible cozy wood-burning fireplace, the only one the author has ever seen in the Caribbean.
