Island Outpost Names Carlos A. Coriano Director of Sales & Marketing


Executive Director of Andria Mitsakos Public Relations Now at Helm of Sales & Marketing for Chris Blackwell’s Boutique Resort Group

JAMAICA (May 8, 2007) – Island Outpost proudly announces Carlos Coriano as director of sales & marketing. The boutique hotel collection of Jamaica and the Bahamas, the brainchild of Chris Blackwell, welcomes Mr. Coriano’s strategic vision to further enhance its presence throughout the international travel community.

While welcoming his recent appointment, Mr. Coriano is no stranger to Island Outpost. Joining Andria Mitsakos Public Relations (AMPR) in 2006, he oversaw marketing for client Island Outpost, which quickly took notice of his creative management skills. Continuing his success with the company, Mr. Coriano increasingly accepted new responsibilities, naturally transitioning into a leader of its sales & marketing.

This news joins Carlos Coriano’s recent appointment as AMPR’s executive director. Providing strategic marketing consulting to luxury hotels and resorts, he is also responsible for new business development and managing operations. In the public relations arena, Mr. Coriano – bi-cultural and fully bilingual in English and Spanish – conducts general media relations management services, while coordinating and hosting press trips.

For the past nine years, Carlos Coriano’s career path and professional development have focused in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. As senior marketing consultant for Connecticut-based Madigan Pratt & Associates from 2002 to 2006, he planned strategic marketing, communications and branding programs for luxury resorts in Bermuda, The Caribbean and Mexico. Mr. Coriano began his career at Virgin Atlantic Airways North American Call Centre, where he held several management positions. In his role as call center planning manager, he was responsible for overseeing all statistical and forecasting analyses, workforce management, and collaborated in reengineering the statistical reporting processes. During his role as a customer service manager, Mr. Coriano was responsible for developing and implementing a quality-monitoring and incentive program and developing and delivering newly hired and quality service training programs.

In the tourism research arena, Mr. Coriano has authored and co-authored in-depth destination research reports for eReview of Tourism Research published by Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) and Travel and Tourism Intelligence, published by UK-based market and consumer intelligence analyst, Mintel International Group.

Currently, Carlos Coriano is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Direct and Interactive Marketing at New York University, where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Tourism and Travel Management with a specialty in Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

Mr. Coriano is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA).
